Meal Planning – FREE Webinar This Saturday!

This Saturday, April 13th at 2pm ET I’ll be doing a FREE LIVE webinar going through what you need to know to plan healthy balanced meals, and answering your questions!

In an ideal world, meal planning would be easy and intuitive. We do tend to make a bigger deal of planning meals than we need to sometimes.

Sometimes I get caught up in thinking more about what I should eat rather than what I want to eat. You don’t want to force yourself to eat a big meal if you just don’t want it, even if it’s healthy.

Although for some people, it can be dangerous to only think about what you want to eat because cravings can cause misleading messages.

Once you get to a place where your body is healthy and balanced, you can clue in to its messages more easily.

And once you get there, meal planning is actually pretty easy. There are some basic things you need to make sure of:

  • Eat mostly whole foods – especially lots of fresh veggies and fruits
  • Eat a variety of those foods – not only different plant food groups, but a variety within each group, so different types of grains
  • Eat things in balance – although I would love to eat fruit all day, I probably shouldn’t do it every day…

After you get that down as part of your routing way of eating, you shouldn’t need to spend a lot of time planning meals.

Where I find people need help is through the transition, where you’re learning new foods and new ways of doing things and need help to know what’s important to get balanced nutrition.

Some of the challenges I hear about from people is difficulty getting balanced nutrients, making healthy food that tastes good, putting together foods into meals, and putting together recipes for a day.

Personally, my biggest challenge is motivating myself to make different types of meals. If I was left on my own, I would eat simple bean and grain salads, and fruit with porridge, every day.
