How I Eat 3 Meals On The Go + Meal Plan Giveaway!

Meal Hacking

I’m very lucky to work from home most days, but there are times when I have activities in town or just feel like getting out of the house and into the world!

I’ve been refining my techniques for taking food with me and finding food while I’m out, and wanted to share them with you.

Since today is the first day of spring AND international day of happiness, I wanted to do a giveaway of my 7 day meal plan! It goes till Monday, so enter below..

It always takes me a bit of time to figure things out in a new city or area, but after doing things for a while I get to know my new spots and routines and then it gets much easier.

I remember the first few times I headed out to work in town, and my backpack was loaded with stuff. It was pretty heavy. I’ve now gotten things down to the essentials, and I have everything I need to have a fun and productive day.

Here’s what I keep in my bag of goodies:

  • Sporknife – I have a plastic and a titanium one, given to me in a pair so that I can use as a fork & knife. Before having this, I was just bringing regular utensils with me.
  • Cloth napkin
  • Mini toothbrush & paste
  • Reusable cloth snack bag – I got mine from a lovely girl in Canada selling on Etsy
  • Plastic food container (water-tight is best, I find the round shape less likely to leak)
  • Mesh produce bag
  • Travel mug for tea (can also make oatmeal in it) – mine is from Teavana, I love it because it has an infuser inside
  • Glass straw from Simply Straws – I got mine on Vegan Cuts
  • Water bottle for water or smoothies (needs to be 16oz or more for smoothies)
  • Non-food-related: bike lights, headlamp, public transportation schedules, waterproof pack cover, raincoat, etc…

I generally make myself oatmeal to take for breakfast, grab lunch at a salad bar, and buy produce from the grocery store for snacks. It works out really well! Sometimes I get extra at lunch to have for dinner if I know it’ll be late before I get home.
