Making grains and beans taste fantastic is really important because they’re quite bland on their own.
My goal is to make healthy plant foods taste really great to encourage people to eat more of them, and beans and grains are one of the most important.
Beans have important amino acids and minerals, while grains have vitamins and other nutrients.
Both are important sources of complex carbohydrates, which are where we get the energy to fuel our day.
Some of my favorite ways to make beans and grains taste awesome are to:
- add spices and/or herbs while they cook
- add tasty fresh vegetables and fruits
- cook them with some vegetable broth or juice
- top them with a tasty sauce or dressing
I put lots more tips – like meal ideas and my favorite flavor combinations – into a handy pdf sheet you can download, and print off if you like (print double-sided if you can).
